Alright assholes, let's do this.
Track #1: A b-side from circa 1998-99.
Track #2: A minor hit in Sweden in the mid 90's. The lead singer Nina Ramsby would later...
Track #3: ...make much more mellow music with Soundtrack Of Our Lives pianist Martin Hederos.
Track #4: From 1994's Definitely Maybe.
Track #5: Seeing how much jazz I listen to, I'm surprised I haven't posted more of it. This is from the 1959 classic Kind Of Blue.
Track #6: A weird band from England that broke up last year. This is song is from 2002/03.
Track #7: An even better English band that also, sadly, parted ways very recently. This is from their 2002 masterpiece See This Through And Leave.
Track #8: Jay-Jay is perhaps best known for his guest appearance on The Knife's Silent Shout album. This is a remix/re-recording of his 1996 song.
Track #9: From Bone Machine (1993). For more Tom Waits, scroll down.
Track #10: Short-lived, semi-obscure Swedish garage rock band. This is the title track from a single released in 1997.
Track #11: From 1997's Medazzaland.
Track #12: From 1962's Moanin' In The Moonlight
Track #13: From 2003's Deep Cuts.
Track #14: From her 2005 selftitled debut album.
Track #15: Yet another crimanally overlooked English band. That might change now that they've had songs of theirs included in shows like One Tree Hill and Grey's Anatomy. From 2003's Satellites.
The next Monkey Mix will be posted on Friday (or at least that's the plan). It will include Johnny Cash, Captain Beefheart, Al Green, Jeff Buckley, Bruce Springsteen etc etc etc. And yes, it's just as good as it sounds. And no, you can't possibly live without it.
One last thing: The pic above is from the movie Buffalo 66, from 1998. It easily one of the best films ever made. Do yourself a favor and see it if you haven't. And if you have? See it again.
