FYI: Tracks 9-14 are taken from a cd entitled
In Search Of Syd, which was given away as a bonus with the October 2007 issue of Uncut Magazine. It's a tribute to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett, and featured both music that influenced Syd and music influenced
by Syd. The name Pink Floyd for example came from blues men Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, both featured on the cd, as well as on this mix. The Pink Anderson song actually sets a new record for this blog - recorded in 1929 it is the oldest song ever featured on a Monkey Mix (narrowingly beating out Al Bowlly's 1931 recording of
Guilty on Monkey Mix Vol. 51).
The mix ends fittingly with Syd's magnificently odd
Bike from his band's debut LP
Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
